Asia Hunter is the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Acting Manager for the Emerging Technologies AJV-115 Team in Mission Support Services. In this role, she has primary responsibility for the safe integration of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) into the National Airspace System.
Ms. Hunter joined the FAA in 1988 as an Air Traffic Assistant at the Detroit Metro Tower. Throughout her 30 year career, she has served in many positions and at several locations throughout the U.S. to include: Air Traffic Controller- Willow Run Control Tower, Front Line Manager – Chicago Executive Control Tower and Control Specialist- Air Traffic Services (AJT).
After completing a headquarters detail in Air Traffic Services, Ms. Hunter was selected to be a permanent Air Traffic Control Specialist in Emerging Technologies, AJV-115 in 2016.
Ms. Hunter attended the Graduate School USA Executive Potential Program and graduated top of her class in May 2015.
One of her most significant accomplishments is the founding of an Aviation Career Education (ACE) Camp for children in her hometown of Detroit, Michigan, which also provides scholarships to deserving students. The aviation camp is currently celebrating its 26th year.
