Steve Weidner was hired by the FAA in 1991 and was an air traffic controller assigned to Minneapolis Air Route Traffic Control Center for 27 years. He is currently assigned to Washington Center. Prior to joining the FAA, he served as an air traffic controller in the U.S. Air Force.
Weidner has been the full-time National Air Traffic Controllers Association (NATCA) representative for Unmanned Aircraft Systems since November 2014. He participates in all aspects of UAS integration, from the development of future technologies and requirements to working with individual facilities on their specific UAS operations. He also works with the UAS office on the development and implementation of UAS training for air traffic controllers.
Weidner holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Maryland – University College.
